Review: Osprey Sojourn 60L Wheeled Travel Pack

Overview

Meet our oldest travel companion - the 60L Osprey Sojourn Wheeled Travel Pack. This bag gives the term ‘work horse’ a run for its money; having travelled to over 30 countries, multiple work trips across Australia, and an almost uncountable number of domestic and international moves. In recent years my collection of travel bags has grown, but somehow I always end up coming back to the Sojourn. Find out why below!

All packed and ready to go on the next big adventure

NB - the below are based on the 2026 model which has had a few updates since my purchase over 12 years ago, but the overall design remains unchanged

Sustainability

Osprey remains an industry leader for their sustainability initiatives; which was a large reason behind my purchase of the bag (and many Osprey bags since)

  • High quality materials and construction mean bags last for lifetimes (mine is 12 years old and counting with no major failures to components)

  • Lifetime warranty on Osprey products encourages purchasers to replace faulty elements rather than disposing entirely

  • Use of recycled materials in construction, or new materials with limited PFAS/chemical treatments

  • Pack repair guides, replacements and advice all available through the Osprey website to promote reducing, reusing and recycling of bags

  • Proceeds from sales go towards conservation, community and accessibility projects across the world

Pros and Cons

Like any purchase, the Osprey Sojourn comes with its own positives and negatives. As a whole though, We have been extremely happy with this bag and its performance over the years of travel it has gone through. The Osprey Sojourn has been thrown down baggage ramps, squeezed into pickup trucks and train carriages and packed to the absolute brim, yet every trip it comes back in the same shape ready for its next adventure.

Pros Cons
Fairly lightweight given framing and harness Straps only useful in specific situations, unused 90% of the time
Quality construction means bag will last many years Cost is significantly higher than average wheeled hardcase
Incredibly strong zips and toggles No option to expand for extra packing space
Smooth rolling wheels Pack can tip over if packed heavily
Cynch straps mean bag can be compressed even when full Bag can take up more space if heavily packed

Where to buy

Any major travel or outdoor retailer will stock Osprey products - they are just that popular. The great news is that the lifetime guarantee applies regardless if the item is purchased through a retailer or Osprey directly.

All of our Osprey purchases have been through brick and mortar stores, as the staff are trained to size you up for the correct dimensions. It is also a good idea to view the bag in person to ensure it meets your requirements; will your packing cubes fit? Is there enough internal pockets for your needs? Will you actually find the harness system useful, or are you better off looking at one of Osprey’s more traditional rolling packs?

Keep an eye out during EOFY, Black Friday and New Years sales to grab a bargain or bundle offer!
